What is SB1343?

The SB 1343 bill was signed by California Governor Jerry Brown back in 2018, and this bill’s focus is to reduce workplace sexual harassment and discrimination.
SB 1343 Training Requirements for Full vs. Part-Time Employees
In the past, mandatory sexual harassment training for California businesses was only required for businesses with 50 or more employees. Additionally, organizations had to only provide at least two hours of sexual harassment training for supervisors within every two years. With this new law passed, businesses with five or more employees must provide employee training with at least one hour of training every two years, as well as provide two hours of biennial supervisory training.
The training requirements for full-time and part-time employees will vary. Beginning January 1st, 2021, both seasonal and temporary staff are required to receive non-supervisory training within the first 30 days or first 100 completed hours. Regrading migrant and seasonal agricultural workers, employees must also be trained in workplace sexual harassment prevention.
How do we comply to SB 1343 requirements?
In order to comply with SB 1343 requirements, your business should take the proper measures. As a business, please begin to schedule and deliver sexual harassment and discrimination training to your employees and workforce before the January 1st, 2021 deadline.
Training must include the discussion of matters such as:
- Abusive conduct prevention
- Consequences and corrective actions
- Possible remedies available for those who are victims of sexual harassment
- Information on sexual harassment prevention
- Federal, as well as statewide, ban on sexual harassment
- Harassment on the basis of sexual orientation, gender expression and identity, discrimination, retaliation, consequences, and abusive conduct.
Does SB 1343’s Require Online Training or Live Training?
